Parent Voices Creates Awareness in Little Haiti and Liberty City

Parent Voices, a choir class for parents is currently being offered at Charles Drew K-8 Center in Liberty City and at the Little Haiti Cultural Center. The parent engagement initiative will connect them with music in overcoming adversity and ignite hope in their communities.

Developed by instructor and mentor, Izegbe Onyango, who is a mother of four, one of which is a double bassist at Miami Music Project’s Liberty City Chapter, brings her professional and philanthropic skills that involve developing educational programs for use in the fight against poverty. The cost-free program is developed as a family peer support network for families by empowering them and realizing their full potential in poverty stricken neighborhoods.

The Liberty City Parent Voices takes place at Charles Drew K-8 Center on Fridays from 4:00 – 5:30 p.m. The Little Haiti Parent Voices takes place at the Little Haiti Cultural Arts Complex on Fridays from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. assisted in Creole by Managg Cesar.
