James Judd Leads Orchestra Boot Camp – Knight Arts Challenge Winner
Miami Music Project will have the honor of world-renowned conductor and founder James Judd to lead the Leaders Orchestra’s Boot Camp on Tuesday, February 16, 2016, at Citrus Grove Middle School, home to one of Miami Music Project’s after-school programs. The Orchestra Boot Camp, which helps 100 Miami-Dade students with intensive classical music training on teacher workdays, was awarded a $105,000 grant from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation.
This is the fourth time Knight has awarded Miami Music Project with a grant from Knight Arts Challenge, which funds the best ideas for bringing South Florida together through the arts. After a very successful launch of the first boot camp in 2015, Miami Music Project will continue this tuition-free program during Miami-Dade County Public School teacher planning days.
This program is open to existing Miami Music Project Leaders and Youth Orchestra students whose audition will be waived. Additionally, the orchestra boot camp is opened to those advanced, high school level or younger students who are required to audition.
